STAR TREK SCREW-UPS
-------------------
Compiled by Simon Plumbe and Edwin Yau
----------------------------------------
More of those mistakes that Paramount would like to forget! We may as well
start with the original crew again!
STAR TREK
---------
In the Season 1 episode "Charlie X", we see a scene where Kirk and Charlie
enter a turbolift to go to the bridge and Kirk is wearing his normal gold
uniform top with the insignia on the left breast. However, when they emerge
from the lift on the bridge, Kirk is wearing his light green top with the
insignia on his waist!!
Another from Season 1, this time from the classic, "Space Seed". When Kirk
smashes the glass panel on the "coffin" to free Khan, his phaser falls from
his belt onto the floor. DeForest Kelley looks down at it, looks at it again
wondering why the director hasn't yelled "Cut!" and when the tray with Khan
on slides out of the chamber, De bends down to pick up the phaser, thinking
the scene is scrapped, changes his mind and bends down again as if he is
going to pick up the phaser - he never bothered in the end! Just look at the
puzzled look on De's face!
THE NEXT GENERATION
-------------------
In season one's "Datalore" there is a scene where Riker is giving his log
entry as soon as he has beamed down to the planet giving the Stardate as
4124.5 although later in the episode the Stardate is given by Picard as
41242.45. Oh well, no wonder First Officers take so long to move up to
Captain!!
A MAJOR dialogue fluff cropped up in season one in "Conspiracy". There is a
scene where Riker orders Geordi to set course, telling him, "Mr. LaForge,
ahead warp six." Geordi's reply to Riker? "Aye, sir, full impulse." You can
see why Geordi was transferred to Engineering!
Another is from the Season 4 story, "Brothers". When Data sets the security
code so that no-one can regain control of the Enterprise, look at the read-
out of the code that Data says. It is significantly different to the one he
says out aloud!
Watch the end scene in the Season 3 episode "The Defector" ("The Enemy"?). At
the end, Picard states that he will be escorting Tomalok to the Neutral Zone,
but instead, the Enterprise and the Romulan vessel fly off in different
directions!
THE MOVIES
----------
A little flaw that I've found in STAR TREK VI. (If you haven't seen it yet,
don't read this as it gives away a VITAL plot point!). The flaw in question
is the scene near to the end of the film where Valeris is talking to Kirk
after she has been discovered as being involved in Gorkon's assassination.
She claims that she was acting for the good of Starfleet and she quotes from
the log entry Kirk made that she secretly recorded. She finished her speech
with, "`Let them die' you said. Did I misinterpret you?" However, when Kirk
said "Let them die" it was part of a private dialogue between Kirk and Spock
and NOBODY else was around so how did Valeris know that he'd said it?!!!!
Another flaw is near the beginning of the film. In the scene with the
briefing at Starfleet, an officer asks the C-in-C the question, "Bill, are we
talking about mothballing the fleet?" and the C-in-C answers the woman with,
"I'm sure our exploration and science programmes would not be affected, but
the facts speak for themselves, Captain." However if you look closely, the
"Captain" is wearing an Admiral's uniform!!
